I have created this blog to help you succeed by making your goals a lifestyle change and to give you ideas that will educate and help motivate you. My blog is written based on my experiences and things that I have tried and researched to helped me reach my health and fitness goals.

Workout Tips!

I hope the weather hasn't kept you indoors to much, I am begining to wonder if summer will ever be here. I need more vitamine D!!! But it makes for going out and walking and doing your intervals soooo much easier when its not so hot! My dogs are happy too!

Interval Training

WOW! I think we are having a heatwave! I will take it, it makes it much nicer to head out the door and take a walk. So now that you have been walking a little more, its time to kick it up a notch by adding some intervals into your walk, which simply means alternating bursts of intense, high activity with bursts of lighter activity. (it will burn more calories!)and all you have to do is walk faster than your normal pace, at first start with a couple of 30 seconds intervals and then as you get stronger build up to longer and longer intervals. The bursts of lighter activity are also called recovery periods because you are allowing your heart rate and breathing to slow down a bit to prepare for the next high intensity interval.

Interval training is easy to incorporate into your walking routine. Just start slowly!

You can also increase the resistance level. Find some hills to walk up or increase the incline on the treadmill during the high intensity intervals.

BRRRRR!
It has been so cold but bundling up and heading out the door to get some cardio in is still a great idea.
Too cold for you, there is no reason why you can't walk in place watching your favorite TV show, but that's boring do some jumping jacks on a commercial, the next commercial to some push ups, add your favorite exercise in on the next commercial and before you know it you have gotten in a workout!
See it really is that easy!

NICE WEATHER!
Have you been taking advantage of the sunny days we have been having?
What a great time to get out and take a walk and get some vitamin D!
Grab the dog, the cat, a friend, or your significant other and head out the door the cool crisp air feels great!
Hey what a great idea.....see you when I get back!

NEW YEARS RESOLUTION!

It is almost a new year once again and everyone will be scrambling to the gym to get fit!
You don't have to go to a gym or spend lots of money to get in shape, get healthy, get fit, or what ever you want to call it. You have the means to get fit in your own home. There are tons of work out videos (but stay away from the ones that promise massive inches lost in a week -- not healthy!) there are also tons of blogs and websites to help you too!

Just remember.......

Its important:
 to have a goal!
to go slow with your movements quality over quantity!
to maintain proper form to prevent injury! (you can always rewind or look at the directions again!)
 to have FUN!

DONT HAVE TIME TO WORK OUT!

I don't believe you!
You don't have to spend hours and hours each week working out. Quality over quantity!
Circuit training is a good way to go! And of course eating right, just because you are woking out doesn't mean you can eat what you want!

Pick your favorite exercises, say 5 of them, do 10 reps of each with out stopping, then give yourself a short rest say 2 minutes and start all over again do this 4 times, see 20 minutes and you got a great work out in!

And remember you don't have to go to a gym to get a GREAT work out!

KEEP MOVING!

Even a few minutes of extra daily activity can help prevent your weight from creeping up (that and eating well!) So clean off that bike or treadmill (don't have either, march or walk in place), and jump on for 10 minutes, see how fast that went, you can do another 10 minutes later or even 20 minutes, you will be happy you did when that dress fits you the way you want it to!

RAIN!

Just because the weather has gotten bad doesn't mean you have to put your sneakers away! We all know that when the rain hits we like to become couch potatoes all because we can't go outside as much! So instead of becoming a potatoe, while you are sitting in front of the tv, stand up march in place, throw a few squats in, maybe even a few jumping jacks, then give me a few push ups, now go back to marching in place you got it, a quick work out all while watching your favorite show!
